Happy Mothers Day!

I have such fond memories of Mothers Day growing up. My Dad would order corsages from our local florist and carefully select one for my Mom and Grandmothers, and they would proudly where their floral arrangements to church that Sunday. Then, at church the pastor would usually play a few congregation games, the favorite being “what mom had the most children” — to which my Mom would almost always win. Finding someone who had more that seven children was a rarity to us! She’d carry her prize proudly outside of the church and we would head off to lunch.

Eating out with our brood required someone getting to the restaurant early enough so that the waitstaff had time to prepare for such a large group. We almost always had to wait, but the laughs and conversation were well worth it.

These are the moments I miss the most living away from home, but they are also the ones I’ll never forget.
